We Understand

Been Putting Off the Dentist in Canberra? You’re Not Alone.

Maybe it’s been two years. Maybe ten. Maybe the last time you sat in a dental chair, someone told you off for not flossing and you never went back. Or maybe the sound of the drill alone is enough to cancel the appointment.

You’re not being dramatic. Dental anxiety is one of the most common phobias in Australia — it affects roughly one in six adults. And the longer you avoid it, the harder it feels to walk through the door.

At Dental Embassy, you’ll never be judged for how long it’s been. And if nerves are what’s kept you away, our dedicated sedation service — Canberra Sedation Dentistry — means you can sleep through the hard part and wake up done.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely not. Many of our patients haven’t visited a dentist in 5, 10, even 15+ years. Life gets busy, anxiety takes over, or a bad experience puts you off. We understand all of that. Our team is trained specifically to help nervous patients feel at ease — your first visit is a calm, pressure-free conversation about your options.

We’re preferred providers for Defence Health, HCF, and NIB, which means you’ll receive the maximum rebate with these funds. We also process claims on the spot with HICAPS for all other major health funds. CDBS (Child Dental Benefits Schedule) and DVA patients are bulk billed.

Yes. Dr Sri holds a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Conscious Sedation) from the University of Sydney, and Anna Huang is a dedicated travelling sedationist. Sedation is administered following strict Australian guidelines, with continuous monitoring of your vital signs throughout every procedure. We assess your medical history in detail before recommending any sedation method.

It depends on the method you choose. Nitrous oxide (happy gas) keeps you relaxed but fully conscious. Oral sedation makes you drowsy — you’re technically awake but unlikely to remember much. IV sedation puts you into a deep, sleep-like state where you won’t be aware of the procedure at all. We’ll help you choose the right level at your consultation.

Sedation costs vary depending on the method and duration. Nitrous oxide is the most affordable option, while IV sedation costs more but provides the deepest level of comfort. We’ll give you a clear, itemised quote at your first consultation — no surprises.

Typically 30 to 60 minutes for all four wisdom teeth, though more complex cases may take a little longer. Because you’re sedated, it will feel like minutes. You’ll wake up with the procedure already complete and recovery instructions in hand.
