Express — The Straightforward Check-up & Clean
For patients who see a dentist regularly and are looking for a new one.
You already go to the dentist every six to twelve months, you have no particular concerns, and you just want a good practice closer to home. This is the appointment for you.
No catching up needed.
You are on top of it already. This visit keeps you there — without the longer work-up that someone returning after years away would need.
Most people booking this have moved to Canberra, or their old practice has become inconvenient, or their regular dentist has retired or moved on. Nothing is wrong. You simply need somewhere new to go.
Because you have kept up with your visits, we do not need to spend an hour building a picture from scratch. Forty minutes is enough to check everything properly, give you a thorough clean, and get you on your way.
What happens at this appointment

A quick history
Where you were going before, when you were last seen, and anything that has changed health-wise. If you can bring or forward recent x-rays from your previous dentist, even better.

Your check-up
A full examination of teeth, gums, bite and soft tissues. For most regular attenders this is reassuring rather than eventful.

X-rays if you are due
Usually every two years for someone attending regularly. If your previous practice took some recently, we may not need to repeat them.

A professional clean
A thorough scale and clean to remove what brushing and flossing cannot reach, and a polish to finish.

We let you know if anything needs attention, and book your next check-up so it does not drift.

Common questions
Will HCF, Defence Health or HIF cover this? +
Members of those funds usually pay no gap on a check-up and clean — but it depends on your level of cover, and it is not guaranteed. Give us your membership details when you book and we will confirm exactly what you are covered for before you come in.
How do I get my records from my old dentist? +
Tell us who you were seeing and we can request your records and recent x-rays for you. You do not need to chase it yourself.
Should I book Enhance instead? +
Only if it has been a while since your last visit, or you have concerns you want looked at properly. If you have been going regularly and nothing is bothering you, Express is the right one.
Why does this not include photographs? +
Clinical photographs are most useful when we are building a picture from scratch or planning treatment. If you are attending regularly and nothing is wrong, they are not needed — so we do not charge you for them.
Can my family book at the same time? +
Yes. Let us know when you book and we will line up appointments together where we can. We also see children, and eligible kids aged 2 to 17 may be bulk billed under CDBS.
